The Masseria: A Historic Estate Reborn

Masseria La Cornula boasts an imposing facade, remaining faithful to the structure's origins. Characterized by its white color, it stands out clearly among the fields. The Masseria was purchased a few years ago and has been completely restored, becoming operational in 2014.

The owners—the young and highly knowledgeable brothers Stefano and Cesare Sabato, together with their brother-in-law Gabriele Cappello—have restored splendor and significance to a structure built towards the end of the 16th century, which had been completely abandoned before beginning this new life dedicated to hospitality.

A park of 90 hectares and an olive grove that yields precious oils make this an invaluable oasis of peace and tranquility. Numerous open spaces to be enjoyed en plein air from March to October. The green of the olive trees surrounding the entire estate, the splendid vineyards, give guests the emotions and typical scents of the Salento countryside.

The interior spaces are meticulously curated—attention to detail makes all the difference. Here, everything is measured and balanced.

The Olive Oil: A Journey into Excellence

Arriving at Masseria La Cornula for our oil tasting, under the arch that invites you in, we were welcomed by Stefano Sabato, AIS Sommelier and a profound connoisseur of both oil and wine. Stefano guided us through the tasting of the incredible extra virgin olive oils produced by this Masseria.

The tasting took place in a space completely dedicated to the exciting discovery of the three labels of exceptionally high-quality extra virgin olive oil produced by the estate. It was here that Stefano gave us the opportunity to discover the fundamentals of oil tasting. We were guided through explanations of olive varieties, production processes, and the deep connection these oils have with the Salento land.
