Moros cellar winemakers for passion

Moros Cellar from the idea of a winemaker by passion, Prof. Claudio Quarta, born in the Negroamaro city, one of the smallest and most fascinating wineries of the whole Salento.

The enological history of Claudio Quarta began in 2005, with the decision to abandon the gown and a brilliant career as a researcher and pharmaceutical entrepreneur, to wear the role of winemaker.

Claudio Quarta does not simply become a producer, but gives life to something more: his winery embody a philosophy, a way of being, thinking (or rethinking) the earth and its vocations, traditions and innovation that is always congenital. To this is added the love for beauty, not only in an aesthetic sense, but as a lifestyle that becomes one in its entrepreneurial style, in the way of doing business and producing wines of the highest quality.

An interweaving to wines and classical culture

Moros winery, as well as the namesake wine that gives it its name, evokes the history of the territory and celebrates the God Moros, brother of Eméra, guardian of the ranks of destiny.

The cellar hides in the basement a space designed to excite and bring back memories. It is a small and well-kept museum where the historical memory of a Salento’s people is gathered, grown up on bread and wine. So you walk, between the ancient history of a people and the most recent history of a wine, the Moros that right below in small barrels, rests in order to mature and eventually become that precious wine now appreciated all over the world.

On the ground floor, in what is today’s conference room in the new architectural configuration of the winery, you can admire the mural “Germinazioni3” by Ercole Pignatelli and other works by the great master.

The Moros winery production

Moros is a Salice Salentino DOP that gives its name to the winery, born near the railway station of Guagnano, from where once started the trains loaded with must obtained from Negroamaro grapes that were going to enrich and strengthen the red wines of all Europe. It is a wine obtained from selected grapes of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera, obtained from cultivated in the vineyard of an ancient garden on the outskirts of the Guagnano city, extended just over one hectare, treated as if it were a child.
