Cantele Winery, 50 years of wine history

Cantele is one of the most important wineries of Salento, located in Guagnano in one of the symbolic places of Salento wine production.

The company consists of a new building built in the typical style of the white Salento farms to maintain a deep connection with the territory and its history. In this building, guests are welcomed to taste the wines in production. On the back of the main building, there is a productive part of the company, with the production and bottling area.

A brief history of three generations of winemakers

The Cantele is the third generation, the third generation with Gianni, Paolo, Umberto and Luisa and lead one of the liveliest productive realities of Salento and the Puglia region. The new generation with passion and competence continues every day the work started by grandparents Giovanni Battista and Teresa and their sons Augusto and Domenico.

With professionalism and courtesy, and above all with a great desire to talk about themselves, the Cantele family opens its doors to wine tourists to guide them on a visit to the vineyards or for a tasting journey to discover quality that is expressed at the highest levels in the numerous labels produced.

With passion and determination, the winery aims to recover and enhance native vines such as Primitivo and Negroamaro, without neglecting international ones, now perfectly integrated into the territory.

The evaluation of the particular climatic conditions of Salento, made the choice falls on an Integrated Agriculture System set up on the concept of Integrated Pest Management, which provides for the constant monitoring of environmental conditions and the prevention of the onset of fungal diseases or attack of harmful insects, preferring the use of agronomic, physical, biological and biotechnological means.

The excellent results obtained in these years, also characterized by unusual weather conditions influenced by the bouts of global warming, are of great stimulus and motivation to continue producing wines increasingly linked to the territory and closer to consumer expectations.
