The Terre del Negroamaro Award reaches its 11th edition this year. It will be held as usual in the historic centre of the Municipality of Guagnano, in the central Piazza Madonna del Rosario. A free event open to all ages where food, wine and music will liven up the evening.

Terre del Negroamaro Award.

The Terre del Negroamaro Award promotes the culture of good wine combined with traditional dishes from the Salento area. An award that wants to recognize and reward the Apulian personalities who have distinguished themselves with their activity in the field of viticulture, culture, entertainment and science, giving prominence to Salento and Puglia.

An event that aims to enhance the value of Negroamaro, the historic vine of the Guagnano area. An important recognition for the great work carried out by the cellars of the territory. In fact, the Salentine wineries have always been committed to the recovery and enhancement of this native Puglia vine. Therefore, it is precisely the Municipality of Guagnano that is the ideal place for this event, a testimony, in itself, of the attention towards the Apulian viticulture.

Together with the participating wine companies, there will be olive oil companies in the area, which also produce excellent products.

The program

Along the streets of the historic city centre will be set up the food stands that will offer the delicacies of Salento cuisine. Each dish will be paired with wines produced by the Salentine wineries that have joined the event. An opportunity to understand how good wine can not only accompany but also amplify the taste of our traditional dishes. An important moment, also, to get to know and taste the wines of Salento.

On the stage, there will be awards and interventions by some exceptional guests.

Special Guest

In addition to food and wine stands, the evenings of the Terre del Negroamaro Award event will be animated by various events and guests. For this year’s edition, the special guests will be:

  • Marco Sabellico curator of Gambero Rosso’s Guide to Italian Wines and known face Gambero Rosso Channel. Expert in the Apulian territory.
  • Luca Gardini, together with Luciano Ferraro, author of I 100 best Italian wines and winemakers, creator of the TWS_Best Italian Wine Award, awarded Best Sommelier of the planet in 2010 in Santo Domingo.

During the evening on stage, we will see the Neapolitan percussionist Tony Esposito and the Ensemble Terre del Negroamaro perform with “Il Suono Illuminato” (Illuminated sound). Il Suono illuminato is a wide-ranging territorial enhancement project, as described on the page of the Municipality of Trepuzzi:

The three-year project IL SUONO ILLUMINATO, born within the Union of Municipalities of Northern Salento and involves five countries that share development goals and horizons. Winning result of the Puglia Region show program, the project involves Guagnano, Salice, Surbo, Squinzano and Trepuzzi as leader. The objective of the exhibition Il Suono Illuminato, whose artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Gioacchino Palma, is to strengthen the cultural, musical identity of the North Salento, starting from the traditions that unite this territory, while preserving the specificities of each individual Common. The enhancement of places through the intangible culture of Salento is expressed through the rituality of patron saint festivals and touring bands; the very essence of this project idea, which intends to offer a typical and recognizable cultural product and a structured mode of fruition of the most authentic popular culture, responding to a tourist demand increasingly interested in making experiences, linked to the spirit of the places.

Participating wineries

Among the participating wineries, we recall the presence of large wineries with which we have the pleasure of collaborating, both here and on Salentowineshop:
