Event “Cortili Aperti” 2020 in Lecce

We are only in February but to plan the spring holidays it is better to leave on time.

Sunday 24 May Lecce will be the protagonist of the Cortili Aperti 2020 event (open courtyards), now in its XXVI edition. Numerous buildings and prestigious residences in the historic city centre will open their doors welcoming visitors. An unmissable opportunity to discover the precious treasures hidden behind the closed doors of the elegant private buildings in the historic centre of Lecce.

Event

“Cortili Aperti” event is proposed by ADSI, the Italian Historic Houses Association under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and with the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. An event that was born to bring citizens closer to the knowledge of the local architectural heritage. An event that aims to raise public awareness of the importance of the conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage in Italy.

The event aims to bring the general public closer to the realities of the Private Historic Houses, which are normally not accessible. Making the public understand the fundamental role of privately owned cultural heritage in Italy becomes an opportunity for culture and knowledge of hidden places within our cities.

Each Region of Italy dedicates a day to this event allowing you to visit over 300 splendid period residences, castles, villas, farmhouses, courtyards and gardens of public and private property. Therefore, a special thanks go to those farsighted owners who opened the doors of their private properties allow the rare opportunity to be admired by the public.

The event allows you to make the visits totally free and free.

Cortili Aperti in Lecce

In Lecce, the event has seen in recent years, the opening of 27 courtyards scattered throughout the historic city centre. During the day the courtyards were also animated by music, readings and small shows.

Numerous high school students who volunteered to act as “Cicerone” in guided tours of the courtyards.

In recent years, the event has taken place at the following times: from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 16.30 to 21.00. At the moment, it is not yet possible to communicate an official program of the event.
